Seoul City Average Fundraising Rate 10.5%... Eunpyeong-gu 20.7%
Seoul Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 19th that it achieved a payment rate of 20.7% in the 2024 Red Cross membership fee fundraising, securing first place among Seoul's autonomous districts for the 17th consecutive year.
The average fundraising rate across Seoul is 10.5%. The payment rates in Eunpyeong-gu for individual business owners, corporations, and non-profit organizations are 8%, 4%, and 39%, respectively. Considering that the average payment rate for non-profit organizations in Seoul is 7%, Eunpyeong-gu's rate is more than five times higher.
The 2024 Red Cross membership fee fundraising began in December of last year and was intensively conducted until last month. The total amount raised by Eunpyeong-gu was 258,033,000 KRW, with a payment rate of 20.7%. Based on household heads, a total of 187,711,000 KRW was collected, recording a payment rate of 54%. Despite the national financial situation being unfavorable this year and the district's financial independence ratio being relatively low, Eunpyeong-gu regards maintaining first place among Seoul's autonomous districts for 17 consecutive years as a significant achievement.
Meanwhile, the funds raised through donations are used for humanitarian activities aimed at protecting the lives and safety of citizens, such as domestic disaster relief, support for vulnerable groups, and public medical projects. Red Cross membership fees can be paid through the Red Cross website, financial institution counters, virtual account transfers, and other methods. Donations made through participation in the Red Cross membership fee are tax-deductible up to 100% of income during individual year-end tax settlements.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “This achievement was made possible thanks to the residents who voluntarily practiced sharing despite difficult circumstances,” and added, “Fundraising continues until the end of November, so we ask for active participation.”
