Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced on the 18th that it will create a "Garden City Guro" full of vitality 365 days a year by establishing elegant gardens and flower paths for all four seasons.
As the first step toward becoming a Garden City Guro, the district created an attractive garden in front of the district office plaza and held a tree-planting event to commemorate it.
Mayor Moon Heon-il planted one maple tree as a commemorative tree and planted 500 flower seedlings together with children from the district office daycare center.
The previously barren plaza in front of the district office has been transformed into a fragrant garden blooming with flowers all year round. A barrier-free walking path was installed, and 800 ornamental shrubs of 20 species including Miss Kim lilac and hydrangea, as well as 3,000 herbaceous plants of 30 species such as mini roses, lavender, and thyme were planted. Photo zones using the district mascot, mirror balls, and landscape lighting are set up throughout to provide abundant visual attractions.
At the entrance on the new building side, a wildflower welcome garden was established. The old pavement blocks were completely replaced, and after relocating large neglected flower pots, about 2,000 wildflowers of approximately 20 species that are rare to see in urban areas, such as astilbe, allium, and Japanese spiraea, were planted.
Moon Heon-il, mayor of Guro-gu, said, "Starting with this garden, we will invest a total of 10.2 billion won in 21 projects this year to make Guro a 'Garden City' and will do our best to become a green city where the quality of life of residents improves."
The district plans to create beautiful and attractive gardens in the area under the themes of gardens you want to see, gardens you want to walk in, and gardens to enjoy together.
