Ryu Gwang-jun, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Headquarters at the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the Korea Aerospace Research Institute in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon on the 18th and emphasized strengthening the competitiveness of the space industry in the New Space era to develop it as a future growth engine.
Director Ryu discussed the roles of the public and private sectors for the aerospace industry and the direction of research and development (R&D) investment in the aerospace field, and also toured the satellite manufacturing site.
Director Ryu stated, "With the advent of the New Space era, it is a time when the private sector should lead in fields with high technological and industrial maturity, while the government needs to focus R&D investment selectively on large-scale projects such as future core technology development and space exploration that are difficult for the private sector to undertake."
