The ‘Dangmal Multi Park,’ a key facility of the urban regeneration project in Dang-dong, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, will be completed in May.
Dangmal Multi Park is being constructed at 779 Dang-dong, Gunpo-si, with two basement floors and a total floor area of 2,118.3㎡. The multi park will include a public parking lot, community-oriented sports facilities, and resident-participatory flower beds and resting areas. The public parking lot will provide a total of 49 parking spaces across two basement levels?23 spaces on the first basement floor and 26 spaces on the second basement floor?to address the shortage of parking near Gunpo Station.
The Dang-dong area is home to Yeokjeon Market, where the March 31, 1919 Independence Movement took place, and Gunpo Station, which opened in 1905 alongside the opening of the Gyeongbu Line. Additionally, it features sites with long-standing tradition and history such as Umultteo, Pyeongan Sanghoe, and Gunpo Church.
Once completed, Dangmal Multi Park is expected to enhance resident satisfaction and revitalize the local commercial district by transforming the previously neglected Dangmal Park into community-oriented sports facilities, resident-participatory flower beds and resting areas, and by securing additional parking spaces.
Kim Tae-su, Director of Urban Regeneration at Gyeonggi-do, stated, "Dang-dong is an area rich in history and cultural resources, and we are promoting the regeneration project with this in mind," adding, "We ask for the active participation of local residents to ensure the sustainability of the regeneration project."
