The Family Division 2 of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judges Kim Si-cheol, Kim Ok-gon, Lee Dong-hyun) held the second hearing of the appeal trial for Chairman Choi and Director Noh's divorce lawsuit at 2 p.m. on the 16th. Following their attendance at the first hearing held on the 12th of last month, both appeared together again at the final hearing held today. At that time, the two faced each other in court for the first time in about six years since the mediation session at the Seoul Family Court on January 16, 2018.

As Chairman Choi entered the courtroom, when asked by reporters, "How do you feel now that the appeal trial is concluding today?" he briefly replied, "I will do well and come out." Director Noh did not respond to the question but gave a slight smile before entering the courtroom.

Since the court previously announced that the hearing would conclude today, it is expected that the date for the appeal trial verdict will be set during this trial.

In December 2022, the first trial accepted Director Noh's divorce petition and ruled that Chairman Choi pay her 100 million won in alimony and 66.5 billion won in cash as property division. While Chairman Choi's divorce petition was dismissed, the court did not recognize the 50% share of SK stocks held by Chairman Choi that Director Noh demanded, citing that she did not contribute to the asset formation process.

Subsequently, both Director Noh and Chairman Choi appealed the decision. Director Noh argued that she could not accept the first trial ruling that business assets such as stocks could not be divided. Chairman Choi stated that while he could accept the 66.5 billion won property division amount, he could not agree with the 100 million won alimony and the dismissal of his divorce petition.
