Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "About 500 Koreans Staying in Israel... No Reports of Damage"

"Continuous Efforts to Secure Necessary Safety Measures"

As Iran launched retaliatory attacks against Israel, it has been reported that there are no Korean casualties among those staying in Israel.

On the same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated the Overseas Korean Protection Task Force and held a meeting chaired by Hong Seok-in, the government representative in charge of overseas Korean protection and consular affairs, to discuss measures to enhance the safety of nationals staying locally.

This is the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution that Iran has launched a large-scale attack on the Israeli mainland. Concerns have been raised that depending on Israel’s counter-retaliation, the conflict could escalate into a larger-scale Middle East war.

As tensions in the Middle East have heightened recently due to the possibility of armed conflict between Iran and Israel, diplomatic authorities are closely monitoring the safety of Korean residents in the area and striving to prepare countermeasures.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs official said, "We plan to continuously seek necessary safety measures going forward."
