"I Will Support Japanese Companies"
During his state visit to the United States, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited Japanese company factories in North Carolina in the southeastern United States, conveying the message that Japan is contributing to the U.S. economy.
According to the Japanese Prime Minister's official residence website and Japanese media on the 12th (local time), Prime Minister Kishida visited the Toyota automobile battery manufacturing plant along with Roy Cooper, Governor of North Carolina.
Prime Minister Kishida received explanations from key personnel of Toyota Motor North America regarding the reasons for selecting the factory location and the impact of the factory establishment on local investment and employment.
He also visited the local small business jet factory of another Japanese automobile company, Honda.
After the factory visits, at a meeting with representatives of local Japanese companies such as Ajinomoto, Denso, and Fujifilm, Kishida said, "I pay tribute to the efforts of Japanese companies that have built a trust relationship, which is the cornerstone of the favorable bilateral relationship," and stated that the government will support companies.
According to Kyodo News, during lunch with Governor Cooper, he also mentioned the Toyota and Honda factories, emphasizing that "they symbolize the supply chain and advanced technology cooperation between Japan and the United States."
