The Final Campaign Rally at Jung-gu Cheonggye Plaza Sora Tower
Scouting Difficult Terrain Aiming for the Capital Region 'Golden Cross'
Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, has embarked on a final campaign blitz in the Seoul metropolitan area, visiting 15 locations in Seoul alone to attempt a last-minute turnaround in the capital region. The People Power Party is hoping for a "golden cross" in the metropolitan area, benefiting from the opposition party's backlash over 'reckless remarks and manipulative loan controversies.'
According to the People Power Party on the 9th, Chairman Han began his campaign in Dobong-gu, Seoul, and continued through 14 other districts including Dongdaemun-gu, Jung and Seongdong-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Gangdong-gu, Songpa-gu, Dongjak-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Gangseo-gu, Mapo-gu, Seodaemun-gu, and Yongsan-gu. He will hold his final campaign event at Cheonggye Plaza in Jung-gu, Seoul, in front of the Sora Tower, under the theme "Reviving Korea with the People Power Party."

On the same day, Chairman Han visited Chang-dong Station in Dobong-gu, Seoul, stating, "I have only this to say: we are just one vote short," and asked, "Will you regret that one vote 30 or 40 years from now?" He emphasized, "The opposition talks about holding 200 seats, but a terrifying event could happen, and the country could collapse."
This move is analyzed as an attempt to secure a golden cross in the metropolitan area by canvassing traditionally weak conservative regions, aiming to gain an advantage in competitive districts. The ruling party itself believes it has hit bottom and is now recovering its support base. The previous day, Chairman Han said during a campaign in Cheonan, Chungnam, "A golden cross is appearing in many closely contested areas."
The People Power Party’s Central Election Committee even mentioned specific numbers. Hong Seok-jun, Deputy Chief of the Comprehensive Situation Room of the Central Election Committee, said in a briefing, "Depending on the perspective, we are considering at least 60 competitive seats nationwide," adding, "In Seoul, support for the People Power Party is expanding even in traditionally Democratic strongholds such as Dobong-gu, Gangdong-gu, Yangcheon-gu, and Seodaemun-gu."
The basis for the recovery in support lies in controversies surrounding Democratic Party candidates Kim Jun-hyeok in Suwon City and Yang Moon-seok in Ansan City Gap. Kim was embroiled in a scandal over remarks claiming that Kim Hwal-ran, the first president of Ewha Womans University, had sexually bribed U.S. soldiers in the past. The previous day, the Ansan City Sangnok-gu Election Commission reported Yang to the police for allegedly underreporting his assets.
The People Power Party is expected to emphasize the 'judgment against the opposition' until the very end. The previous day, Chairman Han changed his schedule from visiting a large supermarket in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, to visiting a restaurant where Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader, had dined. This restaurant was the place Lee certified on social media that he ate samgyeopsal. Chairman Han said, "The 200 seats that Mr. Lee (the Democratic Party leader) and Mr. Cho (the leader of the Innovation Party) talk about will not just be about removing one president; they will amend the constitution to pardon themselves and try to seize power."
