Leap to a Global Cultural Tourism City with 1 Million Tourists
100 Gayageum Performances, 'Gayapungnyu' Adds More Fun
The 'Goryeong Daegaya Festival' will take place over three days from the 29th to the 31st at the Jisandong Tumuli in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, centered around the Daegaya Museum area.
This 18th Daegaya Festival is held after being promoted from a regional representative festival to a national cultural tourism festival of Korea. Under the theme of 'World Heritage, Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli,' various programs will be implemented to offer visitors freshness and enjoyment.
The festival begins with the 'Daegaya Jongmyo Daeje,' a ritual praying for the festival's success, followed by an opening performance, invited performances, and special shows. Against the backdrop of the Jisandong Tumuli, a complex cultural space will be created featuring tomb trekking, a forest playground, photo zones, and various performances, presenting diverse experiential events.
With the development of colorful content and nighttime programs, the festival operating hours have been extended until 10 p.m. to provide more attractions for tourists. At night, visitors can enjoy the 'Jisandong Tumuli Night Walk' and the 'Daegaya Starlight Show (Fireworks Festival),' where they walk along forest paths with professional guides to connect with nature and create special memories with family, as well as enjoy the night scenery of Ureukji.
As the hometown of the gayageum, the '100 Gayageum Performance' and this year's newly introduced popular music concert 'Gayapungnyu (加耶風流)' are major highlights that further enhance the festival's appeal.
The original musical 'Gayatgo' is a musical performance program utilizing Goryeong's historical and cultural content, and this year it will be presented under the title 'The Stolen Bird' at the Munhwa Nuri Ureuk Hall. The festival will conclude on the last day with the 'Daegaya Road' parade, where residents and tourists can come together and celebrate.
Kim Yong-hyun, chairman of the Goryeong-gun Tourism Council, said, "The Daegaya Festival has established itself as a national cultural tourism festival beyond a regional event," adding, "We will continue to develop the festival to match its status as a nationwide festival."
