Challenging 10 Million with Momentum Similar to 'Beomjoedosi 2'
'Pamy?,' starring Choi Min-sik and Kim Go-eun, remained strong in its third week after release. According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office data as of the 11th, the film attracted 1,275,120 viewers over the past weekend (8th?10th) across 2,164 screens (26,111 showings). Although this was a 45.4% (1,068,140 viewers) decrease from the first weekend of this month (1st?3rd), which had 2,335,934 viewers, it maintained the top spot at the box office with a similar revenue share of 67.6%. The seat occupancy rate was 32.5%, the highest among films securing more than 1,000 seats.
The cumulative audience reached 8,041,874. It surpassed 8 million viewers in just eighteen days since its release on the 22nd of last month. This is a significant achievement during the off-season. It is the first February release to reach 8 million viewers since 2016's 'A Violent Prosecutor' (cumulative 9,707,158 viewers). It is challenging the 10 million mark at a pace similar to 'The Outlaws 2' (cumulative 12,693,302 viewers), which attracted the most viewers in 2022.
'Dune: Part 2,' starring Timoth?e Chalamet and Zendaya Coleman, ranked second. During the same period, it drew 292,156 viewers across 1,019 screens (8,121 showings). This represents a 47.1% (260,124 viewers) decrease from the first weekend of this month, which had 552,280 viewers. The seat occupancy rate was 24.7%, and its revenue share was 18.7%. The cumulative audience is 1,282,726. Another Chalamet-led film, 'Wonka,' attracted 80,739 viewers across 645 screens (3,048 showings). Although this was a 53.4% (92,519 viewers) decrease from the first weekend of this month, which had 173,258 viewers, it maintained third place. Its cumulative audience is 3,406,871.
'Poor Things' (38,534 viewers; cumulative 65,420), 'Bread Barber Shop: Celeb in Bakery Town' (37,586 viewers; cumulative 147,369), 'Fast Lives' (33,542 viewers; cumulative 55,097), 'The Founding War' (20,291 viewers; cumulative 1,141,078), 'Demon Slayer: Miracle of the Enchanted Bond and Joint Strengthening Training' (11,658 viewers; cumulative 479,673), and 'I Am Tyranno' (7,166 viewers; cumulative 45,256) followed in order.
