Seongbuk-gu, Public-Private Joint Late-Night Crackdown to Eradicate Harmful Environments

Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has launched a joint public-private crackdown to eradicate harmful environments.

According to the district, on the 15th, 18 officials including public officials from Seongbuk-gu Public Health Center and consumer hygiene inspectors conducted a coordinated crackdown in the Jangwi-dong area during nighttime and late-night hours to target illegal harmful businesses.

On that day, the district focused its crackdown on food service establishments in the form of makyangjip (barbecue restaurants) and inspected each establishment for compliance with the Food Sanitation Act regarding entertainment services, hygiene guidance and inspection, and adherence to restaurant quarantine rules under the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.

Following last year's joint public-private late-night crackdown, this year the district plans to strengthen periodic and unscheduled late-night crackdowns, as well as intensify enforcement against illegal harmful businesses through joint operations with the police station and Seongbuk-Gangbuk Office of Education officials.

Additionally, campaigns linked with local residents and parents in the area will be conducted to continuously improve the educational and residential environment.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “The Jangwi-dong area is densely populated with elementary schools and apartment complexes. We are committed to thoroughly cracking down on illegal harmful businesses to eradicate harmful environments for youth and improve the residential environment.” He emphasized, “By strengthening crackdowns around schools and residential areas, we will protect youth from various harmful environments that hinder their healthy growth and strive to ensure they can grow up healthy in a safe environment.”
