Gyeonggi Province is once again promoting the "Architect Talent Donation Project," which uniquely provides free supervision services for small-scale buildings nationwide.
First introduced in March 2011, the "Architect Talent Donation Project" is a talent donation initiative where architects with extensive expertise and experience directly provide technical guidance on safety and construction upon request from building owners for small-scale buildings subject to building notification, such as those under 100㎥, which are not subject to construction supervision.
Anyone can receive architect talent donation services if the building owner requests it when filing a construction start notification.
From the fourth quarter of 2022 to the third quarter of 2023, Gyeonggi Province conducted 6,603 cases of free supervision. This accounts for 58% of the 10,310 small-scale buildings completed in the province during the same period.
Considering that an average of about 6,400 cases of free supervision services have been provided annually over the past three years and that the supervision cost per case is 2 million KRW, approximately 12.8 billion KRW has been returned to society each year through talent donation.
Gyeonggi Province selects outstanding architects participating in the Architect Talent Donation Project annually and awards them with the Governor's Commendation.
Lee Eun-seon, Director of the Architectural Design Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Architect Talent Donation Project implemented by the province, in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Province Architects Association since 2011, is very meaningful as it secures construction safety and building quality through architects' talent donation."
