Seongdong-gu, Abundant Traditional Market Events for Lunar New Year Celebration

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that it will hold various holiday events for 12 days from January 29 to February 9 at 11 traditional markets and shopping districts in the area to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday.

To revitalize traditional markets struggling due to the economic downturn and to ease the financial burden on residents preparing holiday offerings, various events will be held at each market, including ▲ Onnuri gift certificate payback events based on purchase amounts (e.g., a 5,000 KRW voucher for purchases over 30,000 KRW) ▲ prize giveaways through roulette events ▲ participation in traditional games events.

Starting with Ttukdo Market on January 29, Onnuri gift certificate giveaways and the Blue Dragon Catching event will be held according to purchase amounts at Wangsimni Muhakbong Shopping District and Seongsu Station Alley Shopping District on January 31, Seongdong Yongdap Shopping Market on February 1, and Hanyang University Front and Wangsimni Doseondong Shopping Districts on February 2. From February 5, depending on purchase amounts, roulette events or payback events will continue at Geumnam Market, Majang Livestock Market, Haengdang Market, and on February 6 at Ttukseom Station Shopping District and Singeumho Station Alley Shopping District. Since schedules vary by traditional market, residents can enjoy visiting multiple markets and participating in the various events prepared at each.

For more details about this event, please contact the merchant association of each market or the local economy department.

District Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, "As the economic situation remains sluggish, local commercial districts are facing many difficulties such as rising prices. I hope this holiday event will greatly contribute to revitalizing traditional markets, and we will continue to promote beneficial projects that support the stabilization of the local economy and economic revitalization."
