Nong-eochon Gong Jeonnam, Assemblyman Sin Jeonghun Visits Drainage Pump Station Site

The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (Head: Jo Young-ho) announced on the 29th that Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon of the Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, and Maritime Affairs Committee (representing Naju-si and Hwasun-gun) visited the Sanho Drainage Pump Station and Songchon Drainage Pump Station, areas prone to frequent flooding, to inspect the facility conditions.

The area around Munpyeong-myeon in Naju-si is drained through the Sanho Drainage Pump Station and Angok 2 Drainage Pump Station, but due to insufficient drainage capacity at each station, it is a vulnerable area where flooding repeatedly occurs during heavy rains.

Upon hearing of Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon's visit, local residents said, "Flood damage to farmland has been increasing recently due to climate change, such as sudden heavy rain," and requested the promotion of drainage improvement projects.

In the case of the Songchon Drainage Pump Station in Dasim-myeon, which was frequently affected by flooding, it was selected as a new project site by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs early last year. Design work for replacing the existing drainage pump is underway, and additional plans to improve drainage channels, including the construction of a new drainage pump station, are being pursued.

Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon said, "Drainage improvement projects are extremely important for ensuring farmers' safe agricultural activities," and added, "I will carefully examine the difficult conditions faced by farmers and carry out various activities, including securing budgets to create a safe farming environment."

Head Jo Young-ho stated, "We will actively cooperate in promoting drainage improvement projects to respond to abnormal rainfall and do our best to create an environment where farmers can cultivate their crops with peace of mind through high-quality and reliable construction."
