Focused Inspection of Suspected Emission Sites Using Advanced Equipment

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it conducted a joint inspection of air pollutant emissions within the Yeosu Industrial Complex on the afternoon of the 18th in response to the recent concentrated occurrence of high-concentration fine dust.

On this day, five organizations including Yeosu City, Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office, Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute, Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, and the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences participated, focusing on on-site measurements at air pollutant-intensive business sites.

In particular, the on-site measurements extensively utilized advanced monitoring equipment such as four mobile measurement vehicles and seven drones owned by related organizations to measure air pollutants including propane, propene, and acrylonitrile.

This inspection is the fifth joint inspection following four inspections conducted over two weeks in November last year. The city and related organizations plan to further strengthen management of business sites by sharing measurement data to enhance the expertise and effectiveness of guidance and inspection of industrial complex environmental pollutant emission sites.

A city official stated, “Since the high-concentration fine dust occurrence period is from December to March in winter, we will reduce fine dust through the eradication of illegal pollutant emissions with this inspection and create a more pleasant industrial complex environment.”
