Hamyang Sansam Festival Wins 12th Korea Festival Content Award

Distinctiveness and Originality in Festival Economy
Achieving Content Success Leads to Grand Prize Selection

Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 15th that the Hamyang Sansam Festival was selected in the "Festival Economy Category" at the final judging of the 12th Korea Festival Content Awards.

Now in its 12th year, the Korea Festival Content Awards, which began in 2012 with its first event, is the representative awards ceremony for festivals in Korea held annually. It is the most prestigious domestic award hosted by the Korea Festival Content Association, which honors regional festivals that have greatly contributed to the regional festival content industry, thereby fostering pride in the festival content industry and encouraging the global development of Korean regional festivals.

To ensure objectivity and fairness in the awards, the Korea Festival Content Association formed a selection committee of 70 experts registered in the Korea Festival Content Awards judging panel, including professors, directors, journalists, and industry representatives related to culture, arts, and festival tourism. From these, 25 judges were randomly drawn to conduct the evaluation.

The criteria for selecting the grand prize are based on a total of 100 points: 60 points for the festival's distinctiveness, originality, and content; 20 points for potential for development; 10 points for festival management; and 10 points for achievements.

The 18th Hamyang Sansam Festival held last September received high evaluations for its potential to develop into an industrial-type festival, as well as for its distinctiveness, originality, and content, earning the honor of the grand prize.

The Hamyang Sansam Festival, which attracted over 100,000 visitors last year in October, was reported to have generated a direct economic effect of 11 billion KRW according to the festival evaluation service report.

Meanwhile, the 12th Korea Festival Content Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 22 at the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
