Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is attending the New Year's meeting at the Northern Gyeonggi Chamber of Commerce and Industry located in Uijeongbu on the 11th and taking a commemorative photo with officials.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon attended the New Year's meeting of the Northern Gyeonggi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the 11th, requesting cooperation for the establishment of the Northern Gyeonggi Special Self-Governing Province and emphasizing entrepreneurial spirit to overcome the economic crisis.
Governor Kim said, "My first press conference of the new year was themed on the Northern Special Self-Governing Province. Gyeonggi Province has done everything possible, including creating visions and development plans, holding resident meetings and forums, conducting public opinion polls, and requesting a resident referendum from the central government." He added, "This is irreversible. We cannot go back. The efforts made so far have become valuable assets. I ask for your united support in establishing the Northern Gyeonggi Special Self-Governing Province."
Governor Kim also identified two important factors amid the economic crisis: 'policy' and 'entrepreneurial spirit.' Regarding policy, he said, "I believe Gyeonggi Province is moving in the right direction. This year, we will accelerate that direction." He explained, "The budget growth rate of Gyeonggi Province reaches 6.8% this year, nearly 2.5 times the increase of the central government. Through this, we will stimulate the economy and create an ecosystem where small business owners and economic actors can thrive."
Regarding entrepreneurial spirit, he stated, "For some entrepreneurs, crisis is an opportunity. I hope you can utilize difficult situations well and make a leap forward. There are quite a few economic actors and entrepreneurs facing survival challenges. Opportunities will surely come, so I hope you survive." He promised, "If you have any difficulties, please let Gyeonggi Province or its affiliated organizations know, and we will do our best to support you."
Earlier, in January last year, Governor Kim also visited the Northern Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasizing his commitment to revitalizing the economy of the northern Gyeonggi region. That visit was the first by a Gyeonggi Province governor to the Northern Chamber of Commerce and Industry in five years since 2018.
Meanwhile, the New Year's meeting was attended by more than 200 figures from various sectors, including recently elected Northern Gyeonggi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Choi Geum-su, Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun, Uijeongbu City Council Chairperson Choi Jeong-hee, Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun, Dongducheon Mayor Park Hyung-duk, Dongducheon City Council Chairperson Kim Seung-ho, Yeoncheon County Governor Kim Deok-hyun, Yeoncheon County Council Chairperson Shim Sang-geum, Provincial Assembly member Oh Seok-gyu, and businesspeople from Uijeongbu, Yangju, Dongducheon, and Yeoncheon.
Every year, Gyeonggi Province’s governor, first and second vice governors, and economic vice governor attend the Chamber of Commerce and Industry New Year's meetings to explain the main economic policy directions and administrative values of Gyeonggi Province for the new year. This year’s meetings started on January 2 and will be held at 22 Chambers of Commerce and Industry across the province until the 18th.
