Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) is actively promoting the second-year phase of the ‘Evergreen Project Season 2,’ a win-win cooperation project in the film and video field, in collaboration with Dongseo University.
The ‘Evergreen Project’ is a cooperative initiative that utilizes the human and material infrastructure of local universities to address regional issues and achieve innovation together with local universities.
The county, together with Dongseo University, was selected for the ‘2023-2024 Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project’ led by Busan Technopark, and is promoting the ‘Evergreen Project,’ which aims to enhance cultural enjoyment for marginalized groups within the region and create jobs through film and video culture education and experiences.
In the second-year project this year, following last year, the project plans to implement ▲ Evergreen Musical University ▲ Evergreen Performances and Film Festival ▲ Idea Contest, based on the specialized curriculum of the Im Kwon-taek Film Arts College faculty at Dongseo University.
In particular, in August this year, the musical ‘Sirang,’ in which local residents and students directly participate, will be presented through an outdoor performance. The musical ‘Sirang’ is a brand musical work specialized for Gijang-gun, reconstructing the legend of Sirangdae, one of the eight scenic spots of Gijang. It received much applause and acclaim from the audience during its showcase performance on December 23 last year at the Minseok Small Theater on Dongseo University’s Centum Campus.
A Gijang-gun official stated, “Through the production of regionally specialized musicals directly involving local residents, we aim to promote resident-led regional tourism revitalization from the perspective of content producers rather than consumers. We will also enhance the detailed programs of the Evergreen Project by consulting related institutions such as the Busan Cinema Center.”
Gijang-gun was also selected for the ‘2021-2022 Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project’ and successfully operated the ‘Evergreen Project’ with Dongseo University, receiving positive evaluations as an excellent cooperation model between local governments and universities.
