Continued Support from Individuals and Various Organizations, Ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility Activities, and Sustained Sharing by Religious Institutions
Since last November, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has received warm gestures of kindness from individuals, groups, companies, and religious organizations across various sectors to help marginalized neighbors have a warm winter.
An anonymous donor contributed 5 million won, requesting support for those in need without revealing their name. Lee Myeong-yeong, chairman of the Hongik Foundation school corporation, who donates annually, also donated 2 million won this year.
Local organizations and businesses continued their donations.
The Hanuri Association donated 2 million won, and the Seongbuk-gu Football Association also donated 2 million won. ePogeunhan Nursing Home donated 1 million won. Mampyeonhan Internal Medicine Clinic donated 100 blankets worth 11 million won. Triple J & Partners, which has been supporting side dish sets weekly to vulnerable groups with severe illnesses for four years since 2020, provided side dish sets worth 1.8 million won this winter as well.
At K-Energy Gangsan Gas Station, 5 million won was donated, and Daedong Electric donated 1,000 kg of white rice (worth approximately 2.6 million won).
Corporate social responsibility activities also continued. The K Savings Bank donated cultural gift certificates worth 5 million won as Hope Sharing Scholarships for low-income children and youth, and Asia Cement donated 1 million won.
Religious organizations also participated in sharing; the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism’s Bangsaeng Seonwon donated 7 million won.
Since 2018, Kkum-i-itneun Church has donated women’s hygiene products worth 100,000 won monthly, totaling 5.8 million won to date.
Additionally, donations from individuals and groups continued at each neighborhood community center, supporting a happy and warm winter for those in need.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, “Although this winter was difficult for everyone due to the economic downturn, many people extended support and warm sharing to those in need.” He added, “I deeply appreciate those who practiced sharing for marginalized neighbors, and we will do our best to ensure that donations and contributions from all sectors are delivered quickly and accurately to those who need them most.”
