Han Cheol-woong, the new chief of the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam, took office on the 29th.
After the inauguration ceremony, Chief Han visited the comprehensive situation room to check the maritime security situation under his jurisdiction, officially starting his duties.

According to Tongyeong Maritime Police, Chief Han entered as a maritime police officer candidate in 2003 and has served as the head of the information division at the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters, the situation room chief at Jeju Regional Maritime Police Agency, professor and head of the faculty at the Korea Maritime Police Academy, and spokesperson for the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters.
He succeeds former Chief Joo Yong-hyun, who moved to the position of head of the criminal division at the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters, and will serve as the 29th chief of the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station.
Chief Han said, "I have been entrusted with the mission to safely protect the Tongyeong sea, the center of maritime security in our country," and added, "I will communicate sincerely with all employees of the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station and fulfill my duties."
He also urged, "Please strive to be a maritime police force that is faithful to the basics and strong on the field."
