KIDI Organizational Restructuring... Establishment of 'Data New Growth Office'

The Korea Insurance Development Institute announced on the 27th that it has undergone an organizational restructuring.


The Institute established a new department called the Data New Growth Office, dedicated to data, statistics, and new growth tasks. Utilizing insurtech such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI), it plans to create added value and integrate new growth support functions to support the creation of new markets across all insurance categories. Additionally, to establish new systems such as the new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS17), it will expand related infrastructure and provide comprehensive consulting tailored to customer needs in actuarial, risk, and systems areas.


To improve organizational efficiency, the existing structure of ‘6 divisions, 1 office, 4 departments, and 38 teams’ was reorganized into ‘4 divisions, 1 office, 11 departments, and 39 teams.’ The middle management, which previously consisted of two levels?team leader and division head?has been strengthened to three levels: team leader, department head, and division head, to allow senior managers to focus on their tasks and prevent delays in decision-making.


In addition, a dedicated team was newly established to actively support important national projects related to public life and safety, such as mandatory disaster safety insurance (commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety). Furthermore, as the importance of compliance tasks such as personal information protection and internal control has increased, the Audit Team was expanded and reorganized into the Legal Audit Office.


Regarding personnel appointments, talents were selected based on ability and performance following the organizational restructuring, and middle managers (department heads) were strategically positioned forward.
