"Christmas Salute" Son Heung-min Scores Season's 11th Goal with Match-Winning Strike Against Everton

Tottenham, 3 Consecutive Wins... '4-Point Gap' with League Leader Arsenal

Son Heung-min, captain of England's professional football Premier League (EPL) team Tottenham, led his team to victory by scoring his 11th goal of the season ahead of Christmas.

On the 24th (Korean time), Son Heung-min scored Tottenham's second goal in the 18th minute of the first half during the 2023-2024 EPL Round 18 home match against Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, UK, with the team leading 1-0.

Having recorded his 10th goal of the season in Round 16 against Newcastle on the 11th of this month, achieving the remarkable feat of scoring double-digit goals for eight consecutive EPL seasons, Son Heung-min resumed his scoring streak after two matches.

With 11 goals, he ranks joint 3rd in the EPL scoring chart, following Erling Haaland (Manchester City, 14 goals) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 12 goals). Son Heung-min trails the leader Haaland by three goals. With a total of 114 goals, Son Heung-min surpassed Ian Wright (retired, 113 goals) to become the sole 23rd highest scorer in EPL history.

After Tottenham conceded a goal to Andre Gomes in the 37th minute of the second half and won 2-1, Son Heung-min's goal proved to be the match-winner.

Son Heung-min was selected as the 'Man of the Match' through a vote on the official EPL website after the game.

Tottenham recently secured three consecutive league wins, accumulating 36 points and rising to 4th place. They are 4 points behind the top-ranked Arsenal (40 points), who drew 1-1 away at Liverpool on the same day, and 3 points behind 2nd place Liverpool (39 points, goal difference +21) and 3rd place Aston Villa (39 points, goal difference +16), giving Tottenham an opportunity to challenge the top ranks.
