Kakao Cloud Launches 'BCS m3az Instance'

Launch of 'BCS m3az Instance' Based on AMD 4th Generation EPYC Processor

Kakao Cloud, operated by Kakao Enterprise, announced on the 21st the launch of its cloud computing service based on AMD's latest processor, the 'BCS (Beyond Compute Service) m3az instance.'

The Kakao Cloud BCS m3az instance is equipped with the 4th generation EPYC Genoa processor based on AMD's next-generation Zen 4 core architecture, supporting a clock speed of up to 3.95GHz. It supports instance sizes with up to 32 vCPUs and 128GiB of memory, providing high-performance computing without performance degradation.

This m3az instance has improved performance by approximately 65% compared to previous instances through technical collaboration with AMD. It is optimized for workloads requiring single-threaded CPU tasks such as high-performance computing (HPC). It is particularly suitable for industries sensitive to performance and requiring high processing speeds, including gaming, simulation modeling, medical, and blockchain sectors. It is also expected to be suitable for research and development fields requiring high-performance computing, such as genomic analysis, fluid dynamics, and molecular dynamics.

The instance benefits from Kakao Cloud's SmartNIC technology. SmartNIC plays a key role in enhancing network input/output (I/O) performance and improving server efficiency. By reducing the CPU workload on the instance, SmartNIC enables high-performance, high-density VM (Virtual Machine?a virtual environment created through virtualization technology on physical hardware systems generating CPU, memory, network, storage, etc.) services to deliver performance similar to bare-metal environments.
