Professor Kang Jae-cheol of Dong-eui University Successfully Re-elected as the 29th President of Busan Gyotong

Teacher Safety Net Pledge Without Violation of Teacher Authority

Professor Kang Jae-cheol of the Department of Design and Formative Arts at Dong-Eui University was re-elected as the 29th president of the Busan City Teachers' Association. His term will be three years, from March 1, 2024, to February 28, 2027.

Professor Kang secured re-election by obtaining 2,443 votes (53.04%) out of 4,604 total voters in the election for the 29th president of the Busan Teachers' Association held from December 5 to 7, following his tenure as the 28th president.


In this election, Principal Lee Yong-ha of Sadong Elementary School, who ran as Kang’s running mate, was appointed as the senior vice president. Teachers Kang Tae-hwi of Yangwoon Elementary School, Kim Su-ju of Haksan Girls' High School, Principal Ma Seok-hwang of Gyesong Girls' High School, and Professor Bae Young-hoon of Dong-Eui Science University were elected as vice presidents.


President Kang expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank everyone for the support and encouragement during the election period. I will fulfill the ideas and pledges gained through our meetings and meet expectations.” He added, “With a strong sense of responsibility for re-election, I will focus on enhancing the quality of regional education and strengthening the educational support system based on cooperation and communication.”


The president and the executive team pledged to ▲ establish a safety net for teachers’ rights through securing immunity from child abuse accusations ▲ increase allowances for teachers and professors ▲ transfer school violence-related duties to the police ▲ expand personnel exchanges among private schools.


Professor Kang Jae-cheol previously served as a member of the Busan City’s 6th civilian transition committee and held positions as president of the Busan Design Organizations Federation and vice president of the Busan Service Industry Federation.
