"Average Weight Calculation Purpose... Refusal Possible"
Asiana Airlines will measure passengers' body weight from the 12th to the 21st to ensure safe flight operations. This is a passenger standard weight measurement in accordance with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's notice. It will be conducted at the departure gates of the domestic terminal at Gimpo Airport.
The method involves stepping onto a scale along with carry-on luggage, and passengers can refuse the measurement if they do not wish to participate. The measurement data will only be used to calculate the average weight and will be collected anonymously without any other purpose.
The passenger standard weight measurement is conducted at least every five years according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "Aircraft Weight and Balance Management Standards." The measured data is used to distribute the aircraft's weight to maintain posture and enhance flight safety. Korean Air conducted this measurement in August this year, T'way Air in January, and Jeju Air in December last year.
An Asiana Airlines representative said, "We ask for your cooperation in the measurement for safe flight operations," and added, "If you do not wish to be measured, please inform the staff."
