Professor Lee Seungheon Receives Ministerial Commendation... Chief Nurse Choi Myung Awarded Ministerial Prize
Chonnam National University Hospital celebrated a double honor.
According to Chonnam National University Hospital on the 6th, Professor Lee Seung-heon of the Department of Cardiology received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare, and Chief Nurse Choi Myung-i received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
Professor Lee was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of health and medical technology in Korea at the ‘2023 Health and Medical Technology Promotion Merit Awards’.
The ‘2023 Health and Medical Technology Promotion Merit Awards’ by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute are given to individuals or organizations that have contributed to the development of health and medical technology and industry. Awardees are selected in the categories of ▲New Research ▲Excellent Research ▲Excellent Development ▲Fostering and Promotion.
Professor Lee was selected in the New Research category, awarded to outstanding researchers under 40, for publishing academically valuable papers in the fields of acute myocardial infarction and coronary artery intervention, contributing to medical advancement. He has consistently conducted research and clinical activities in this field and has published 30 international SCI(E)-level first-author papers to date (1 paper with IF over 30, 8 papers with IF over 10, 12 papers with IF between 5 and 10).
He has also received ▲the Korean Society of Cardiology Young Researcher Award ▲the Pfizer Academic Award from the Korean Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis ▲the LG Chem Future Medical Scientist Award ▲and the Chonnam National University Hospital Medical Research Academic Award.
Professor Lee stated, “As a cardiology physician, I am honored that my efforts have been recognized by reflecting on the examples of my mentors, including Professors Jeong Myeong-ho and Ahn Young-geun, who have devoted themselves to clinical practice and research. I will continue to work with responsibility and a sense of mission to conduct various studies aimed at improving the prognosis of cardiovascular disease patients in Korea.”
Meanwhile, Chief Nurse Choi Myung-i received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the 100th anniversary event of the Korean Nurses Association.
Chief Nurse Choi was recognized for her contributions to nursing projects and the development of health and medical policies, including transformational leadership, establishing the status of nurses, and patient care.
In particular, since 2018, she has concurrently worked with the Korean Nurses Association and served as the general secretary and education committee member of the Gwangju Hospital Nurses Association until 2021, planning and implementing continuing education aligned with the latest trends to improve nursing practice.
Since April, she has been elected president of the Gwangju Hospital Nurses Association, striving to enhance the leadership of nursing managers in small and medium-sized hospitals, actively leading community service activities, and contributing to the development of the Korean Nurses Association and its branches and affiliated organizations.
Chief Nurse Choi said, “This award is not a personal achievement but a product of all nurses and, above all, the precious connections with patients. I believe it is the result of understanding, practicing, and cooperating to realize the true value of nursing. I will continue to improve medical services through relentless passion and innovation.”
