Jeongeup-si 'Dalhanopigom Conference Center' Opens

The Dalhanopigom Conference Center, which will serve as a hub for urban regeneration and residents in Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk, held its opening ceremony on the 1st and officially began operations.

According to the city on the 1st, the Dalhanopigom Conference Center, created as part of the urban regeneration project near Jeongeup Station, is equipped with a cafe, capsule hotel, and meeting rooms.

About 100 people attended the opening ceremony, including Mayor Lee Hak-su, Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly member Lim Seung-sik, members of the Ribbon Village Management Social Cooperative (Chairman Lee Jae-woon, hereafter Ribbon Masa Cooperative), and local residents.

'Dalhanopigom' is the brand name of the urban regeneration project, created by synthesizing residents' opinions based on the concept of Jeongeup Sayo, a thousand-year-old Jeongeup folk song.

The conference center is expected to be used as a meeting space for companies located in industrial complexes and agricultural industrial complexes in connection with the KTX, or as a venue for various events and gatherings for local residents.

The cafe and capsule hotel will be operated by young people from the Ribbon Masa Cooperative's 'Young Cultural Merchants,' who will sell beverages and bread and manage the lodging facilities.

In particular, the capsule hotel, operated for the first time in the Jeonbuk region, can be conveniently used during business trips or while waiting for trains.

The city signed a consignment contract last October with the Ribbon Masa Cooperative, which was voluntarily organized by residents, to operate the facility.

Through preparations so far, the Ribbon Masa Cooperative will begin full-scale operations with the opening ceremony and plans to revitalize the public enterprise proposal district of the urban regeneration New Deal project.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, "I hope the Ribbon Masa Cooperative grows into the top cooperative among the 245 village management social cooperatives nationwide and plays a central role in restoring the commercial district and revitalizing the old downtown area," adding, "I also hope that not only the cooperative members but also local residents will work together to make the Dalhanopigom brand a hot place centered around Jeongeup Station and the terminal."
