This award was planned to provide new learning opportunities based on their graduation projects to domestic university architecture department (major) graduates (or prospective graduates).

The winning works were selected through a review process including document and model evaluation and presentation (PT) from excellent graduation projects recommended by department heads among the 2023 graduation projects, with a total of 10 works chosen.

The judging panel included ▲ Architect Yerin Kang (Professor, Department of Architecture, Seoul National University) ▲ Architect Chanjung Kim (CEO, The System Lab) ▲ Architect Jeongim Kim (CEO, Seoro Architects) ▲ Architect Hyuna Jeong (CEO, DIA Architects) ▲ Architect Sooyoung Kim (CEO, Soombi Architects).

The grand prize went to Koo Yechan, a student in the Department of Architecture at Korea University, for "Library of the Contradictory City." The flexible spatial design of the juxtaposed temporality of Hyochang Park through the architectural form of a library was highly praised. The excellence award was given to Jang Hojun from Yonsei University for "Poetics of Tectonic," and the merit award went to Jin Sol Kim from Korea National University of Arts for "Timeless Hotel." In addition, two works received encouragement awards, and five works were awarded honorable mentions.

Koo Yechan, the grand prize winner, said, "The feedback and comments I received from the judges after presenting my work will be a great strength in achieving my dream of becoming an architect."

The winners will receive a total prize money of 22.5 million KRW, including 10 million KRW for the grand prize and 5 million KRW for the excellence award. A record book containing the works and judges' opinions will also be provided. Along with the winners, students who advanced to the second round of judging can receive mentoring from the judges.

The Shinyoung Cultural Foundation is a public interest foundation established in 2020 by Shinyoung Group, a comprehensive real estate company, as part of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management to contribute to society through talent development. It contributes to the development of domestic architectural culture and talent nurturing by sponsoring the production of graduation project catalogs for fine arts colleges and hosting the Shinyoung Art Award and Architecture Culture Award.

Chairman Ilkwon Kim said, "Talented individuals full of passion and fresh ideas are enriching the Architecture Culture Award," adding, "Since mentoring by judges sometimes leads to practical employment, we will strive to create a virtuous cycle that supports talent growth through the Architecture Culture Award."
