Gangbuk-gu, First Autonomous District in Seoul to Enact Ordinance Supporting Redevelopment Projects

Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 3rd that it has enacted the first ordinance among Seoul's autonomous districts regarding support for maintenance projects to provide systematic and efficient assistance for maintenance projects.

This ordinance includes provisions on establishing a basic plan for residential area maintenance, supporting maintenance projects, and operating dedicated organizations.

The scope of the ordinance applies to maintenance projects under the Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Act and the Special Act on Maintenance of Vacant Houses and Small-scale Housing, and it will be promulgated and enforced on November 3.

Following the enactment of the ordinance, the district plans to analyze the current status and characteristics of residential areas throughout Gangbuk-gu, establish a basic plan including project methods and maintenance directions, and operate it in conjunction with urban planning.

Since last August, Gangbuk-gu has established a Redevelopment and Reconstruction Support Team directly under the district mayor, promoting various projects to support maintenance projects such as resident consultations, public project promotion, education, and publicity. Through this ordinance, the support work for maintenance projects has been further systematized.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, stated, "With the enactment of this ordinance, we have established a continuous and systematic support system for maintenance projects," adding, "In particular, significant changes are expected in the high-rise district residential areas due to the relaxation of height restrictions in the high-rise district. Through the establishment of the basic plan, we expect to prevent indiscriminate development in the high-rise district and achieve more harmonious maintenance."
