On the 30th, Pukyong National University and Geumyang held a plaque ceremony for the 'Battery Joint Research Center' on the 10th floor of Hanmir Hall at Pukyong National University's Yongdang Campus.
The two institutions established the Battery Joint Research Center as a hub for industry-academia cooperation activities to jointly carry out research and development projects and train next-generation secondary battery specialists, and officially opened it on this day.
The College of Engineering at Pukyong National University and Geumyang, having signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement last year and conducted research collaboration to secure advanced core technologies related to secondary batteries, jointly established this Battery Joint Research Center to maximize the synergy effect between university and industry cooperation.
The Battery Joint Research Center is equipped with laboratory practice rooms and administrative spaces and will be utilized as a hub to carry out joint projects related to advanced battery core technologies such as secondary battery manufacturing processes between Pukyong National University's secondary battery-related departments and Geumyang.
Participants of the 'Jeonji Joint Research Center' plaque ceremony are taking a group commemorative photo.
Pukyong National University plans for its secondary battery-related departments and majors to conduct joint projects with Geumyang to develop technologies needed in the industrial field and provide students with opportunities to acquire practical field knowledge and advanced technologies.
Geumyang expects to continuously expand equipment and facilities related to secondary battery manufacturing and development at the center and dispatch personnel, sharing and resolving issues arising in the field with the university.
Prior to the opening of the Battery Joint Research Center, Geumyang donated 200 million KRW to Pukyong National University last year and pledged 1 billion KRW in development funds over five years, focusing on investing in human resources and technology development in the secondary battery field.
Professor Kim Buan of the Department of Materials Engineering at Pukyong National University stated, “This research center is expected to provide companies with a foundation to solve field problems and offer students opportunities to directly participate in corporate fieldwork and advanced technology development, presenting a model case of glocal industry-academia cooperation to the local community.”
