'Fraud Allegations' Former Cheongjo Arrested in Gimpo... Residence Raided and Seized

Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was previously engaged to former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee (42) but broke up, has been arrested.

On the 31st at 3:52 PM, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul executed an arrest warrant for Jeon at a relative's house in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, and is currently transporting him to the Songpa Police Station. Searches are being conducted at Jeon's residence and his mother's residence.

On the same day, Shin Hyun-il, chief judge of the Seoul Eastern District Court, issued the arrest warrant for Jeon, stating there was "a concern that he might evade summons." One of the two warrants for communication and seizure was also issued, while the other seizure warrant was partially dismissed.

The Songpa Police Station applied for Jeon's arrest warrant, communication warrant, and seizure warrants on the previous day on charges of fraud and attempted fraud. On the 25th, Kim Min-seok, a member of the Seoul Gangseo District Council, filed a complaint against Jeon on suspicion of fraud and attempted fraud based on a tip that "Jeon induced loans by checking credit ratings and interest rates through a loan brokerage platform." Based on additional tip-offs that Jeon embezzled 110 million KRW under the pretext of investment funds for a business in China, Kim submitted a petition to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The petition also requested an investigation into suspicions of Nam being an accomplice. The Songpa Police Station is conducting a consolidated investigation into the fraud allegations related to Jeon.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Nam, through legal representatives, filed complaints and accusations against Jeon and Jeon's mother on charges including fraud. It is also known that Nam filed a complaint against Councilman Kim for defamation based on false information.
