Actor Hong Sa-bin received the Rising Star Award at the 8th London Asian Film Festival.

At the 8th London Asian Film Festival, which opened on the 18th, Hong Sa-bin received the Rising Star Award for the film Hwalan (director Kim Chang-hoon). He said, "This is the first award I've received since elementary school," adding, "I feel nervous and excited."

He continued, "I am grateful to senior actor Song Joong-ki, who called Hwalan my film and encouraged me to hold my head high and work hard."

The Rising Star Award at the London Asian Film Festival is given to actors leading Korean cinema, with previous recipients including actors Im Si-wan, Ryu Jun-yeol, and Kim Da-mi.

Hwalan is a noir drama depicting the story of Yeon-gyu (Hong Sa-bin), an 18-year-old boy who wants to escape a hellish reality and meets the organization's middle boss Chigeon (Song Joong-ki), entering a precarious world together. It was invited to the Un Certain Regard section at the 76th Cannes Film Festival this year. Hong Sa-bin received praise for his dense emotional performance portraying Yeon-gyu, a boy with nowhere to lean on.
