GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 31st that it will continue the craze for the sold-out jumbo lunchbox ramen in the first half of this year by launching the second edition of jumbo ramen, Gongganchun Jjambbong-Jjajangmyeon, on the 2nd of next month.

The jumbo lunchbox ramen, released at the end of May, led the 'mukbang' craze and the large-portion trend both online and offline. Online, the YouTube Shorts video related to jumbo lunchbox ramen recorded the highest number of views, surpassing 23.4 million, and Instagram mentions have exceeded 20,000 in total.

Offline, it caused a sold-out frenzy, recording cumulative sales of 700,000 units and revenue of 6 billion KRW within five months of release. Originally planned as a limited product with 50,000 units for promotional events, due to its high popularity, it was converted into a regular product and currently ranks first in ramen sales at GS25. GS25 explained that the mukbang trend and the overwhelming size that breaks the stereotype of cup ramen being a single serving meet the current customer demand for seeking something different, which has led to its great popularity.

The second series, Gongganchun, will be released in the form of stir-fried noodles. Gongganchun is a 'jjambbong-jjajangmyeon (jjajang + jjambbong)' combining Gonghwachun Jjajang and Gan Jjambbong, a PX (military mart) 'honey combination' recipe. Based on the successful exclusive launch of the PX popular product 'Schnell Chicken,' GS25 identified customer demands for PX products and decided to launch this product based on numerous reviews and release requests.

Gongganchun comes in a large container measuring 34 cm wide, 28 cm long, and 9 cm high, containing eight regular single-serving ramen, one Gonghwachun Jjajang sauce, one Gan Jjambbong sauce, one flake packet, and one spicy sauce. Following the recent spicy ramen trend, an additional spicy sauce is included so that individuals can adjust the spiciness according to their preference. The required amount of boiling water is 2.2 liters, and depending on taste, consumers can cook Gonghwachun Jjajang and Gan Jjambbong separately in halves to share or mix them together.

The product package design was inspired by the frequent use of jumbo ramen in YouTube mukbang content and was created in the shape of a YouTube play button. The image of a character holding Gonghwachun Jjajang and Gan Jjambbong was included to intuitively convey that two products are included. This product is available at GS25 stores nationwide. Up to four units per store will be stocked every Thursday. The price is in the 12,000 KRW range.

Kim Dae-jong, GS Retail's Process Planning Team Product Development Manager (MD), said, "Encouraged by the enthusiastic response to jumbo ramen, we have prepared a new form of the second jumbo ramen to continue the large-portion craze," adding, "We will continue to offer new tastes and experiences through attempts that go beyond existing boundaries."
