Agency: "False statements made about family"
Stalker visits not only event venues but also school
Trot singer Oh Yujin (14) has filed a complaint against a man in his 60s who continuously stalked her. On the 30th, Oh Yujin's agency Totalset announced that they recently filed charges against a man in his 60s, Mr. A, for violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation by spreading false information).
Totalset stated, "The stalker has defamed Oh Yujin's family by spreading false information through social networking services (SNS) and YouTube comments for several months," and added, "He repeatedly called Oh Yujin's family, causing anxiety and fear." It is also known that Mr. A visited not only event venues but also the school where Oh Yujin is enrolled, and even demanded a meeting with Oh Yujin's maternal grandmother.
Mr. A went to Oh Yujin's school claiming that he was Oh Yujin's father. Because of this, Oh Yujin reportedly shows extreme caution whenever she sees adult men and cannot hide her anxiety even at events, suffering from severe stress.
Totalset submitted a complaint against Mr. A to the Mapo Police Station in Seoul last August. The case was later transferred to the Jinju Police Station, and as a result of the police investigation, the charge of defamation by spreading false information was recognized, and the case was recently sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment. However, Mr. A continued to post comments on the internet and engaged in excessive behavior even after the complaint was filed.
In response, Totalset stated, "Apart from the criminal case, we are also considering legal action in civil court and filing a complaint under the name of Oh Yujin's grandmother," and added, "We will continue to take strong legal action without any settlement or leniency to ensure that such harm does not occur again, and we will do our best to protect the rights of our artist."
Born in 2009, Oh Yujin gained recognition by winning the bronze medal on KBS 2TV's entertainment program 'Trot National Competition' in 2021, and subsequently appeared on KBS2's 'Trot Magic Wandering Troupe' and MBC's 'After School Excitement.'
