As the grace period for guidance on additional items subject to expanded and strengthened disposable product use regulations ends on the 23rd of next month, Seo-gu plans to inform the relevant industries of the changed compliance requirements to ensure that the laws and regulations are implemented practically and stably.

In addition, Seo-gu plans to focus on promotion through various methods such as posting compliance requirements for disposable product use regulations by industry in the Seo-gu newsletter and on the website, posting on SNS, sending notices to target businesses, on-site guidance, and operating a disposable product monitoring team.

The items for which the grace period will expire due to the expanded and strengthened disposable product use regulations include ▲ disposable paper cups, plastic straws, and stirring sticks in the food service industry ▲ disposable umbrella vinyl covers in large-scale stores ▲ disposable bags and shopping bags in general retail and bakery businesses ▲ disposable synthetic resin cheering items in sports facilities.

Starting from the 24th of next month, businesses found violating the disposable product use regulations will be subject to fines of up to 3 million KRW.

Lee Hyunsun, Head of the Cleaning Administration Division of Seo-gu Office, said, “We will continue to promote and conduct inspections on disposable product use regulations,” and added, “We ask for active participation and cooperation from local businesses and residents in making reducing disposable product use a daily habit to save resources and reduce environmental pollution.”
