The S-OIL Ulsan Welfare Foundation purchased local agricultural products worth a total of 470 million KRW from the Onsan area on the 30th, including pears grown in the Onsan region and eco-friendly rice cultivated using the snail farming method.
On the same day, Ulju-gun held a purchase event for 2023 Onsan local agricultural products at the county office governor's office. The event was attended by Governor Lee Soon-geol, S-OIL Executive Director Oh Seok-dong, Onsan Nonghyup Cooperative President Shin Moon-chul, Onsan Snail Farming Method Team Leader Lee Sang-woo, and Pear Orchard Team Leader Kim Il-seop, among others.
This event aims to support local farmers who have faced difficulties due to this year’s monsoon season and consecutive typhoons, and to practice coexistence with the local community by donating the purchased rice and pears to low-income families and organizations in the Ulsan area.
This year’s purchase volume includes 3 billion KRW worth of rice (40kg) in 3,520 bags and 1.7 billion KRW worth of Onsan pears (7.5kg) in 5,430 boxes.
The S-OIL Ulsan Welfare Foundation has been purchasing rice since 2001 and pears since 2004, continuing the annual local agricultural product purchase event. To date, they have purchased a total of 5,800 tons of rice worth 8.4 billion KRW and 499 tons of pears worth 2.1 billion KRW.
Ulju-gun Governor Lee Soon-geol expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the S-OIL employees, Onsan Nonghyup officials, and local farmers who have shown special interest in the community and actively participated in the campaign to buy local agricultural products.” He added, “I expect this event to be an opportunity for continuous exchange between companies and rural areas and for urban-rural coexistence.”
