The 2nd Uljin Webtoon Film Festival Opens... Screening Last Year's Award-Winning Work '7.9 Billion to 1'

The Uljin Webtoon Film Festival will open spectacularly at the special stage of Maehwa Elementary School in Maehwa-myeon, Uljin-gun.

On the 28th, after screening the opening film, the movie of the same name based on the first webtoon award-winning work '7.9 Billion to 1,' various programs will be held along with the opening declaration.

The opening ceremony will be attended by director Jang Cheol-su of the opening film '7.9 Billion to 1,' lead actors Jin Tae-hyun and Park Si-eun, webtoon original author Jo Ah-jin, as well as Lee Hyun-se, a master of Korean comics.

The festival is creating a fresh breeze in the webtoon and film industries as a new cultural content event by holding contests and awards for webtoons, which originated in Korea, and producing films based on them.

At the opening ceremony, along with the screening of the opening film, this year's webtoon contest award ceremony will also be held simultaneously.

The winners will be announced with all 17 nominated authors in attendance. Next year's film production candidate works are also attracting attention.

The opening ceremony will feature various performances, including a special performance by singer Jeong Sura, who became a star by singing the theme song of Lee Hyun-se's representative work "Gongpo-ui Oeingudan," as well as theme performances by YouTube singer Kim Chowol and children's musical star Rookies.

In addition to the award ceremony at the opening, there will be special performances including singer Jung Soo-ra, who became a star by singing the theme song of Lee Hyun-se's representative work 'Gongpo-ui Oeingudan' (The Horror Foreign Baseball Team), YouTube singer Kim Cho-wol, and Sound of Music by children's musical star Rookiez, among various other performances.

The festival plans to offer various events as a gift to the local residents as a festival together with the community.

Lim Young-ha, chairman of the film festival organizing committee, said, "Through the festival, we hope to provide many webtoon artists with creative opportunities, rebirth webtoons as films, and use this as an opportunity to widely promote excellent Korean webtoons domestically and internationally as content," adding, "We hope that Uljin will be recognized as a new film city as a cradle for webtoon creation and webtoon films."
