Gwangjin-gu Smart City Integrated Platform Resolves Female Stalking Crimes

3745 CCTV Cameras Installed in District Transmit Real-Time Footage to Police and Fire Stations... Enabling Rapid Response in Emergencies and Building a Safe Urban Environment

Gwangjin-gu Smart City Integrated Platform Resolves Female Stalking Crimes

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is drawing attention by solving a stalking crime case against a woman while operating the 'Smart City Integrated Platform' to prevent safety accidents.

The 'Smart City Integrated Platform' is a safety management system that shares closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from Gwangjin-gu with related organizations such as Seoul City, the police, and the fire department. It provides real-time access to footage from 3,745 CCTVs installed throughout the district, enabling prompt response in emergency situations.

The district introduced this system last September. When requests for viewing from other agencies are received or a crisis situation is detected, all video information managed by the Gwangjin-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center is immediately transmitted to the 112 and 119 situation rooms.

In particular, it played a decisive role in resolving a recent stalking crime against a woman. After receiving a report of trespassing, the police requested investigative support from the district office, and the Gwangjin-gu Integrated Control Center immediately linked video information to conduct a joint operation. Ultimately, they succeeded in identifying the suspect’s appearance and movement, leading to an arrest within 30 minutes.

In addition, the Smart City Integrated Platform performs key functions in protecting residents’ safety, such as disaster prediction and situation management, and tracking missing persons. Along with the case of solving the stalking crime, it is expected to contribute to creating a safer urban environment in the future.

District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “It is very encouraging to solve a criminal case using the Smart City Integrated Platform that connects thousands of CCTVs,” and added, “We will actively promote various projects to prioritize safety and protect the lives and property of our residents.”
