Recruiting 40 People Until October 23... No Entry Fee! No Sales Commission!... Outdoor Art Exhibition with On-site Direct Art Sales
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is recruiting 40 artists to participate in the "2023 6th Mapo Art Fair" until October 23.
To revitalize the art and culture of the newly renovated Red Road street and to enhance the promotion and sales of artworks, this year's 6th Mapo Art Fair will be held as an outdoor exhibition on Hongdae Red Road, a place with heavy foot traffic.
The Mapo Art Fair has the advantage that there are no sales commissions for direct transactions of exhibited artworks on-site, allowing buyers to purchase desired works economically and sellers to receive the full proceeds from sales.
The district plans to exhibit a total of 120 artworks from 40 participating artists, with up to 3 pieces per person, for six days starting from November 7.
Applicants are artists currently active in their work as of the announcement date (September 13, 2023), with no age or regional restrictions.
The application fields are divided into ▲Painting ▲Design (Digital Art) ▲Installation Art ▲Convergence (Interactive Art, Artificial Intelligence, etc.).
Selected artists through document and submission reviews will be provided opportunities for artwork exhibition and sales brokerage, as well as an exhibition support fund of 200,000 KRW per person.
In particular, the district stated that when selecting participating artists, preference will be given to emerging artists without solo exhibition experience and art university (graduate) students, so that the Mapo Art Fair can serve as a foothold for the growth and promotion of emerging artists' works.
Artists wishing to apply can log in to the web hard and upload the application form and portfolio. Detailed information can be found on the Mapo-gu website's announcement section or at the Mapo-gu Culture and Arts Division.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "We want to create a place where emerging artists can freely showcase their talents and introduce their works to the public," adding, "We expect Hongdae Red Road, the center of culture and arts, to be the stepping stone, and we look forward to the interest and applications from talented artists."
