This District Mayor Provides Emergency Support of 15 Million Won for Education Expense Subsidies
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the evening of the 13th that it will urgently provide 15 million KRW in educational expense subsidies to Seoul Video High School, where a fire broke out in the dormitory, to create a safe learning environment.
At around 9 p.m. on the 13th, a fire of unknown cause occurred on the 5th floor of the dormitory building of Video High School located in Sinjeong-dong while charging an electric scooter, completely burning Room 1 of the dormitory and causing property damage worth about 11 million KRW.
The school decided to remodel the dormitory for one month to repair the facilities damaged by the fire and improve the dormitory facilities.
Accordingly, the district plans to urgently allocate 15 million KRW in educational expense subsidies to support temporary accommodation costs for 100 students using the dormitory, shuttle bus rental fees for commuting, counseling and treatment expenses, and more.
On the morning of the 15th, Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gi-jae, together with Superintendent of Education Cho Hee-yeon, visited the site of the dormitory fire at Video High School and carefully inspected the damage restoration status. Mayor Lee said, “I feel sorry thinking of our students and staff who must have been greatly shocked by the sudden fire,” adding, “The district office is also urgently providing educational expense subsidies to help create a safe learning environment, hoping for a swift recovery. We will continue to strive to create a safe environment so that students can focus on their studies with peace of mind.”
