On the 8th, from 4 to 9 PM, merchants develop 28 unique side dishes pairing with beer; beer coupons provided with 5,000 or 10,000 won side dish purchases
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the ‘Yeongmaek Festival’ at Yeongdong Traditional Market from 4 PM to 9 PM on the 8th.
Organized by the Yeongdong Traditional Market Merchants Association, this event was planned to promote the traditional market and revitalize the commercial district. The event name ‘Yeongmaek Festival’ is a combination of Yeongdong Traditional Market and beer (maekju), while also representing the ‘Young’ generation. It signifies the intention to make the traditional market a lively place frequented by young people.
Merchants within the market have developed 28 unique side dishes that pair well with beer. ▲The dried seafood store offers butter squid and fish jerky sets ▲The side dish store features braised pollack ▲The sashimi restaurant presents fried shrimp and menbosha ▲The Vietnamese restaurant showcases a fried sampler. Side dish prices are 5,000 KRW and 10,000 KRW, and beer coupons are provided according to the purchase amount. For 5,000 KRW, customers can exchange for one beer, and for 10,000 KRW, two beers.
A stage for the event is set up at the intersection in front of Jungoe Pharmacy in Yeongdong Traditional Market, with 50 tables and 300 chairs arranged up to 100 meters from the stage to enjoy the festival. Various attractions such as busking performances, influencer live broadcasts, and events will be held on the stage.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “I hope Yeongdong Traditional Market will become a hot place enjoyed by young people through this distinctive festival,” and added, “We will continue to provide various support to promote traditional markets.”
