Eunpyeong-gu, Thriving Amid Heatwave... Free Water Playgrounds to Enjoy in the Neighborhood
Operating every Tuesday to Sunday until August 31 at four local parks
Opening of four locations: Maebawi Children's Park, Daejo Children's Park, Gusan-dong Village Square, and Eunpyeong Peace Park
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is operating water playgrounds that have become popular urban summer retreats, drawing great crowds.
Since July 25 until the end of this month, the district has installed and operated water playgrounds at four local parks for all visiting residents to enjoy.
The operation sites are ▲Eunpyeong Peace Park ▲Gusan-dong Village Park ▲Daejo Children's Park ▲Maebawi Children's Park, totaling four locations.
The water playgrounds operate three 90-minute sessions daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Mondays. Break times are from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The session duration was extended from the original 45 minutes to 90 minutes to facilitate smoother use.
Each water playground manages capacity per session: 80 people at Eunpyeong Peace Park, 60 at Gusan-dong Village Park, 70 at Daejo Children's Park, and 100 at Maebawi Children's Park.
The facilities are closed every Monday for inspection and cleaning and operate flexibly depending on weather conditions such as rain and on-site circumstances.
There is no separate parking space at the water playgrounds, so public transportation is recommended. Pets and cooking activities are prohibited. Children under 7 years old may enter only when accompanied by a guardian to prevent safety accidents.
For visitor convenience, rest facilities such as pergolas and shade tents are provided, and safety managers are stationed at each water playground to ensure safe water play. The water supply is replaced daily, and regular water quality tests are conducted.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “I hope children have a cool and enjoyable time at the water playgrounds this summer,” adding, “We will do our best to operate safe and clean water playgrounds.”
