Cheongsong-gun Wins Excellence Award for Two Consecutive Years in National Local Government Job Competition This Year

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, received the Excellence Award in the Job Announcement System category for the second consecutive year at the ‘2023 National Local Government Job Awards’ ceremony held at the Sejong Convention Center on August 2.

The ‘National Local Government Job Awards’ is a representative regional job award ceremony organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to enhance local responsibility and autonomy in job creation by introducing the ‘Regional Job Target Announcement System.’ It promotes local governments’ efforts in job creation and raises awareness of regional jobs by evaluating and awarding outstanding regional job policies and projects of metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide every year.

Cheongsong-gun set the slogan for jobs in the 8th elected term as “Cheongsong with a Different Texture of Life, an Oxygen Economy Created Together with Residents,” and established five core strategies: ▲Creating smart growth jobs through the convergence of agriculture and industrial technology ▲Creating happy community welfare jobs made together with residents ▲Creating future youth jobs opened with passion and challenge ▲Creating tourism and nature jobs filled with the scent of Cheongsong forest oxygen ▲Creating eco-friendly residential jobs with leisure, relaxation, and healing in life.

Despite the employment crisis, the county’s key achievements include job creation projects to alleviate labor shortages in rural areas, job creation projects for the elderly’s livelihood stability, job creation projects supporting the growth of small businesses, and job creation projects tailored to local industries. Among the core employment indicators supporting these efforts, the number of employed persons increased by 1.8% compared to the previous year, and the employment rate reached 85%, ranking first in Gyeongbuk Province.

Through this award, Cheongsong-gun secured a total of 70 million KRW in prize money entirely funded by the national government as an incentive, which will be used as the budget for next year’s job projects.

County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “We will revitalize the local economy by implementing various job project policies for the well-being of all residents and create a happy Cheongsong by supporting customized employment services that meet the demands of job seekers and companies.”
