Dyson's First Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Water Cleaning
Soft Rotation and Lightweight Use Are Strengths
Customizable Cleaning for Different Situations with Additional Heads
Dyson, the renowned brand of cordless vacuum cleaners, has launched the 'V12s Detect Slim Submarine' with a water cleaning function in Korea. As competitors have already released cordless vacuum cleaners capable of wet mopping, Dyson introduced this related product as a latecomer. After actually using it, Dyson's commitment to quality was felt, focusing more on product completeness than speed of release. Wet mopping has been a major household chore challenge, but using this product made it easy to achieve a clean floor.
The Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine is the first Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner released in Korea to support a wet mopping function. Just like previously swapping out various heads for different cleaning purposes, you simply attach the 'water cleaning head' when you want to mop. This head has a 300ml water tank on the side; after detaching the tank from the head, filling it with water, and reattaching it, you are ready to go. Around the water tank, the process of removing and inserting it is numbered, so you can use it immediately without reading the manual.

When trying wet mopping, Dyson's unique features stood out. When using other cordless vacuum cleaners for wet mopping, there was a somewhat stiff feeling, but Dyson's product moved smoothly without resistance when moving the head forward, backward, left, or right. Since the mop moves like a roller, similar to the vacuum cleaner head that sucks in dust, fast wet mopping was possible without straining the wrist. Also, due to the strong motor performance, the forward pushing force was strong, making the product feel lighter than its actual weight. The head weighs about 1.3kg, which is not heavy, and this was another advantage.
Another advantage was that the mopped floor was not excessively wet. This is thanks to the eight spray nozzles spaced evenly on the head that supply water at regular intervals per minute. When wiping off contaminants like coffee on the floor, the mop can get dirty, but this product collects the wiped water and contaminants in a separate container, allowing for clean wet mopping throughout the operation time. One filled water tank can mop the entire floor of a house about 66 square meters (20 pyeong). It is said that wet mopping is possible for up to about 99 square meters (30 pyeong). The remaining water amount in the tank can be checked as a percentage (%) on the LCD screen on the main body.

With the multiple heads that come with the Dyson V12s Detect Slim Submarine, customized cleaning for different situations was possible. The 'Fluffy Optic Cleaner Head,' which shines a green light in front of the head to reveal hair and dust on the floor, allowed for thorough cleaning even in hard-to-see places like beds and sofas. Also, the 'Hair Screw Tool' with a spiral brush bar made it easy to clean floors with a lot of hair, such as in front of the dressing table and bathroom. Unlike regular heads, this function sucks hair into the dustbin without tangling.
Of course, there were some drawbacks during use. Although multiple heads are provided, there is no separate stand to store the heads, so additional space is needed for storage. Since the vacuum cleaner height cannot be adjusted, a 160cm tall reporter sometimes had to bend their arm more while using it. If additional improvements are made in future models, more convenient use will be possible.
