Busan Gijang-gun is operating an interactive and discussion-based advanced humanities learning program conducted directly by university professors in collaboration with local humanities colleges. The program is named ‘2023 Gijang Library Wisdom School’.
Gijang Library will hold the program under the theme “Wisdom Learned from Cultural Life in the Global Era: Living as Homo Culturalis” every Thursday at 10 a.m. from July 6 to September 21, totaling 12 sessions. The lectures will be given by Professor Kim Dong-won from the Department of History at Pusan National University.
A Gijang-gun official stated, “We will continue to provide various humanities programs at the library where people can acquire wisdom for life, striving to spread the social meaning and value of the humanities.”
‘Library Wisdom School’ is a public project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Library Association. It was promoted to encourage wise senior living for the middle-aged generation and to spread the social value of the humanities, and in March, Gijang Library was selected as a participating library.
