Surpassing 200,000 Returns in One Day
Disposition Expected to Be Decided Next Month Due to Procedures
Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, announced that her YouTube channel surpassed 200,000 subscribers just one day after declaring she would "return her medical license."
On the 21st, Cho posted on her YouTube channel, “Hello! This is Cho Min. Thank you so much for surpassing 200,000 subscribers. Last night, while taking a walk in the rain, I was watching the live count and was so moved that I was at a loss for words,” along with a photo showing her surprised expression.
Currently, Cho’s official YouTube channel, ‘Jjomin minchobae,’ has approximately 205,000 subscribers. The video she posted on the 19th titled ‘Domestic Travel - Chuncheon Part 1! Girls’ Clumsy Camping’ has exceeded 120,000 views and received over 3,000 comments.
Cho officially began her activities on YouTube on the 12th of last month. With just a teaser video, she became eligible for the 'Silver Play Button,' awarded for surpassing 100,000 subscribers. Since then, she has been actively posting, and the total views across six videos have surpassed 2.41 million.
Meanwhile, this day attracted even more attention as it was the day after Cho announced she would return her medical license. Through her Instagram, she stated, “Until now, I have only used my medical license for volunteer medical services, but during the license revocation hearing, I judged that it was inappropriate to continue medical activities,” explaining her decision.
Cho said, “I feel a sense of responsibility for the social controversy caused by me and, with a reflective heart, I will complete only the volunteer activities already planned, then cease all medical activities and humbly return my medical license while awaiting the related trial results.” She added, “For these reasons, I also plan not to pursue procedures such as applying for a stay of execution.”
The Ministry of Health and Welfare reportedly sent Cho a registered letter on the 19th informing her that preliminary procedures for revoking her medical license are underway. The ministry explained, “We plan to receive a written statement from Cho and forward it to the hearing officer.”
The hearing officer (an external expert and lawyer) who receives the written statement from Cho will prepare an opinion and submit it to the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Following this procedure, the revocation is expected to be finalized within next month.
