"Always Walked Alone at School"
"Even When I Greeted, They Rarely Responded"
Jeong Yoo-jeong (23), who approached a female peer through a tutoring app in Busan, murdered her, and disposed of the body, was reported to have had almost no interaction with friends during her school days.
According to an MBN report on the 7th, Jeong Yoo-jeong's high school classmates remembered her as a friend who lacked presence.
Classmate A said Jeong Yoo-jeong was "really quiet and always alone," adding, "She had no friends at that time."
Another classmate B recalled, "Even when greeted, she wouldn't respond, and she rarely talked."
It was also reported that Jeong Yoo-jeong was never bullied or ostracized but always hid alone behind curtains, showing the behavior of a 'reclusive loner.'
Professor Lee Soo-jung of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University stated on YTN Newsrider on the 3rd, "It is difficult to say that being a reclusive loner was the cause of the crime," but added, "There are indeed rare cases where people explosively externalize the social disconnection they experience as problematic behavior."
Professor Park Mi-rang of the Department of Police Science at Hannam University analyzed, "For Jeong, who lived as a reclusive loner, crime-related novels or investigation programs were her main conscious world, and she became so immersed in her own world that it led to murder."
He further added, "In Jeong's case, living in a world detached from reality likely made her thoughts about murder light and prevented her from considering the victim's suffering."
On the same day, Jeong Yoo-jeong's high school graduation photos were also released.
The photo with glasses was not much different from the ID photo recently released by the police, but the photo without glasses looked quite different from her current appearance.
Because of this, some classmates said they did not recognize Jeong Yoo-jeong even after her ID photo was made public in the media.
Earlier, on the 26th of last month, Jeong Yoo-jeong approached the victim through a tutoring app in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, and committed murder.
At the time, she tried to make it look like a disappearance by placing the body in a suitcase, then took a taxi to the vicinity of the Nakdong River to dispose of it, but was urgently arrested after the taxi driver reported suspicious behavior.
After the police conducted a psychopathy diagnosis test on Jeong Yoo-jeong, her score was found to be in the 28-point range, surpassing serial killer Kang Ho-soon’s score of 27 points.
