A man in his 40s who set fire in his apartment under the pretext of scolding his son was urgently arrested by the police as a suspect caught in the act.
The Mokpo Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 1st that they have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on charges of attempting arson in a residential building for setting fire inside the apartment.
Mr. A is accused of stacking his son's books and burning them with fire in the utility room of the apartment he lives in, located in Sang-dong, Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do, around midnight on the 30th of last month.
The 119 fire brigade, who responded to a resident's report, extinguished the fire in its early stages, and the fire only burned part of the utility room without causing any casualties.
However, this incident caused many residents to evacuate in the middle of the night.
Police investigation confirmed that Mr. A set the fire inside the apartment under the pretext of scolding his son.
Judging the matter to be serious, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, who was arrested on the spot.
