The Busan Port Authority (BPA) labor and management jointly opened the 6th and 7th BPA Hope Pantries on the 22nd in collaboration with the Bongnae 1-dong and 2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers in Yeongdo-gu, Busan.
Notably, more than 20 people, including Hwang Bo-seunghee, Member of the National Assembly for Yeongdo-gu, Kim Ki-jae, Mayor of Yeongdo-gu, and BPA Executive Vice President, participated in the opening ceremony of the 7th branch.
The BPA Hope Pantry is a food sharing project where local residents can donate food ingredients and those in need can take them for free. It is established with budget support from the Public Coexistence Solidarity Foundation.
Prior to this, BPA opened the 1st to 5th branches in Yeongdo-gu, Saha-gu, Sasang-gu, and Jung-gu, Busan in April.

The management and operation of the 6th and 7th branches are respectively handled by the Bongnae 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center and the Bongnae 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
The 6th branch operates every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and any resident in Bongnae-dong who needs assistance can freely take food ingredients donated by local residents.
The 7th branch operates Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is available only to registered monthly members at the Administrative Welfare Center, including vulnerable groups requiring care and children at risk of food insecurity in the area. Both the 6th and 7th BPA Hope Pantries are closed on public holidays.
BPA plans to support continuous donations and sharing by linking corporate donations to the Hope Pantries. Additionally, BPA intends to expand the Hope Pantries to up to 20 locations within this year and will recruit additional institutions wishing to operate them in June.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, stated, “We will continuously support and expand the Hope Pantries so that they serve as a cornerstone for activating a culture of sharing among residents.”
