The Group of Seven (G7) and the European Union (EU) have decided to ban the resumption of gas imports through pipelines where Russia has cut off natural gas supplies, according to TASS news agency and others on the 14th (local time).
This decision is expected to be finalized at the G7 summit held in Hiroshima, Japan, from the 19th to the 21st. If approved, Russia will be unable to export gas again to Germany or Poland via pipelines.
Major foreign media reported that if this measure is confirmed, it will be the first sanction targeting Russian natural gas exports through pipelines since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In retaliation for Western sanctions over the Ukraine invasion, Russia cut off gas supplies to Germany and Poland last year.
